Overview
Every deliverable tells the same suspense story.
The hypothetical film festival project celebrates the films of Alfred Hitchcock. The objective is to coordinate a complex set of materials that must function together as a whole — to marry multiple messages with divergent formats, all with a unified and holistic aesthetic that contains the essence of the director and his storytelling style.
There is a prevailing obsession with voyeurism running throughout Hitchcock’s oeuvre. He knew that human beings have a fascination with watching — we are naturally nosy, curious, intrusive. As voyeurs, audiences somehow feel complicit in the events onscreen; Hitchcock forced audiences into a position they simply did not want to be in — the position of voyeur. This project incorporates the artistic expression of Alfred Hitchcock and five chosen films (Psycho, Vertigo, Rear Window, Dial M for Murder, and Shadow of a Doubt) through consistent visual language and design deliverables that mesh together as an integrated system.
