⊕ Objective

The National Park Service (NPS) is a bureau within the Department of the Interior (DOI) whose function is to manage US national parks. As a group, we were drawn to this website because of the allure of the outdoors, nature, and hiking. Nps.gov needs a facelift that reflects the beauty and fun of National Parks, while still effectively delivering the information the user needs.

⊕ Approach

The product we produce helps The Department of the Interior accomplish conservation and management of the Nation’s natural resources and cultural heritage, also provides scientific information about natural hazards to address societal challenges. By providing an interactive website and dialogue between humans and nature that makes people who like hiking and camping feel more connected with nature. So more people can accomplish educating the public and conserving these natural resources for generations to come.

From user testing, we found that users liked using a map to learn more about park locations. Users will filter out parks by selecting the state that they want to narrow their search by.
